Tales of (mis)adventure from abroad

peru stamp

It was the perfect moonless night to hunt pacas, a large nocturnal rodent renowned for its delectable meat. We had penetrated deep into the rainforest and laid out the bait, crushed ripe bananas, at strategic spots around us. Less than five minutes later, we heard a rustling noise close by. I flashed the beam of light towards it: a huge paca froze, startled. Nobody gets THIS lucky. My Peruvian partner didn’t waste a second: he flipped the rifle in aim, frantically reaching into his pockets for ammo: nothing. Embarrassing. Several hours and a return-trip to town later, we redeemed ourselves.

LOL Yes, good point JP, this is a WARNING to anybody travelling to Quillabamba: If you happen to be walking around town at night, look up to the sky and be careful, you never know when a flying cat in a plastic bag might land on your head.
