Tales of (mis)adventure from abroad

Pressing On

Pressing On

malawi stamp

How I ended up on Lake Malawi after dusk, sitting on the narrow ledge of an overloaded pirogue battling to keep my balance and paddle, is just one of these crazy mixes of circumstances one only seems to encounter when traveling. Getting the hang of it was not easy at first, but the beauty of the star-filled sky, the freshness of the air, the stillness of the dark water below and the rhythmic thud of the wooden paddle against the hull sent me into a trance that kept me going seamlessly for another 15 kilometers deep into the night.
